Falcons used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Bulleen 88-54 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by Falcons. Boomers was better in third quarter 23-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Falcons held Boomers to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.9 percent accuracy of the winners. Falcons forced 19 Boomers turnovers and outrebounded them 44-24 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Boomers' players. Forward Kelly Bowen (182-89, college: Gonzaga) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Jackie Vanderzaag (184-88) contributed with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Five Falcons players scored in double figures. Falcons' coach felt very confident using 10 players saving starting five for next games. Kara Tessari replied with 14 points and Abbey Ellis added 9 points in the effort for Boomers. Falcons will face Venom (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Boomers will play against Sunbury and hope to win that game.
