Regular Season Round 24: Cortegada - Joventut LC 81-65

An interesting game for Cortegada (17-7) which hosted in Vilagarcia Arousa one of their biggest challengers Joventut LC (14-10). Third ranked Cortegada had an easy win 81-65. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Joventut LC. The game without a history. Cortegada led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. It was a good game for Senegalese center Amy Syll (196-93, agency: ProDep Management) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Cape Verdean-American guard Vandell Andrade (179-93, college: Le Moyne, agency: ProDep Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Four Cortegada players scored in double figures. Cortegada's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nerea Garmendia replied with 21 points and Eliana Soriano added 4 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Joventut LC. Cortegada maintains third position in Group A with 17-7 record having four points less than leader Aros Leon. Newly promoted Joventut LC keeps the fourth place with ten games lost. They share the position with GDKO Bizkaia. Cortegada are looking forward to face GDKO Bizkaia (#5) in Galdakao in the next round. Joventut LC will play on the road against Maquinaria Ensino in Lugo and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
