Very important is a home loss of second ranked Toyota Alvark (36-11) against fifth ranked Akita Happinets (14-33) on Sunday night. Host Toyota Alvark was defeated by Akita Happinets in a tough game in Tokyo 64-71. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Toyota Alvark. They outrebounded Toyota Alvark 44-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. American forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) nailed 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side and Canadian center Scott Morrison (213-86, college: Portland St.) accounted for 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. Akita Happinets' coach Makoto Hasegawa allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American point guard Diante Garrett (196-88, college: Iowa St.) came up with 16 points and the other American import forward Jeff Ayres (206-87, college: Arizona St.) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Toyota Alvark in the defeat. Akita Happinets maintains fifth place with 14-33 record. Toyota Alvark at the other side keeps the second position with 11 games lost. Akita Happinets will play against higher ranked Chiba Jets (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Toyota Alvark will play against the league's leader Tochigi Brex and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
