Regular Season Round 25: Campli - Valdiceppo 81-63

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Valdiceppo (7-17) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Campli (17-5) 81-63 on Sunday. Campli dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Valdiceppo's 32. Campli forced 20 Valdiceppo turnovers and outrebounded them 39-28 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Power forward Riziero Ponziani (204-94) fired 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Point guard Riccardo Bottioni (190-93) chipped in 14 points and 7 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Campli players scored in double figures. Center Alessandro Panzieri (201-95, college: High School) produced 10 points and 8 rebounds and guard Federico Burini (190-93) added 11 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Campli have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Newly promoted Valdiceppo keeps the fourteenth position with 17 games lost. Campli will face league's second-placed Bisceglie on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Valdiceppo will play against Isernia (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
