Regular Season Round 49: San-en - Hitachi SR 72-69

The most exciting game of round 49 in the B League took place in Hamamatsu. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Hitachi Sunrockers (23-24) to second ranked Sanen Neophoenix (26-21) 72-69 in the game for the second place. American swingman Josh Childress (203-83, college: Stanford) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and Nigerian-Canadian Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon, agency: Babcock Sports) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Sanen Neophoenix players scored in double figures. At the losing side Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and international forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) scored 9 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Sanen Neophoenix maintains second place with 26-21 record having thirteen points less than leader Tochigi Brex which they share with defeated Hitachi Sunrockers. Hitachi Sunrockers at the other side dropped to the second position with 24 games lost. They share it with Nagoya DD. Sanen Neophoenix are looking forward to face Niigata Albirex (#4) at home in the next round. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against Toyama Grouses and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
