Regular Season Round 50: Ehime OV - Shimane SM 78-80

Fourth-ranked Orange Vikings (24-24) made lots of trouble for first ranked Shimane Magic (40-7) in Matsuyama on Sunday. The visitors from Shimane managed to secure only two-point victory 80-78. However their fans expected easier game. The best player for the winners was American forward Josh Davis (203-91, college: San Diego St.) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American forward Lawrence Blackledge (206-86, college: Marquette, agency: Interperformances) produced 16 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks and guard Toshino Tatsuhiko (185-88) added 10 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Five Shimane Magic and four Orange Vikings players scored in double figures. Orange Vikings' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Shimane Magic maintains first position with 40-7 record. Orange Vikings at the other side dropped to the third place with 24 games lost. They share the position with Yamagata. Shimane Magic are looking forward to face league's second-placed Dragonflies in Hiroshima in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Orange Vikings will have a break next round.
