The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Vicenza as it allowed them to take a leadership position in A2. Vicenza smashed 10th ranked Castellammare at home 84-48. The game without a history. Vicenza led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Castellammare to just 7 points in second and third quarters. Vicenza forced 20 Castellammare turnovers. Guard Maria-Giulia Pegoraro (174-89) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Slovenian forward Tina Jakovina (183-92) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Vicenza players scored in double figures. American-Irish forward Fiona O'Dwyer (178-99, college: Emmanuel, MA) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds and point guard Raffaella Potolicchio (169-90) added 13 points in the effort for Castellammare. Castellammare's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Castellammare at the other side keeps the tenth place with 16 games lost. Castellammare will play next round against Civitanova trying to get back on the winning streak. Vicenza will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Marghera in Venezia.
