Regular Season Round 26: Recanati - Chieti 94-90

There was a minor upset when 13th ranked Chieti (9-17) was defeated on the road by sixteenth ranked Recanati (7-19) 94-90 on Monday. Recanati dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Chieti's 28 and made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Recanati forced 19 Chieti turnovers. Strangely Chieti outrebounded Recanati 43-23 including 16 on the offensive glass. Chieti was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Swedish-American Erik Rush (196-88, college: Montana St.) who scored 31 points and 6 rebounds. American guard Travis Bader (196-91, college: Oakland) chipped in 27 points. Recanati's coach Giancarlo Sacco allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Trae Golden (188-91, college: Georgia Tech) produced 30 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and naturalized American power forward Cristopher Mortellaro (207-82, college: Drury) added 14 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Recanati maintains sixteenth position in A2 with 7-19 record. Loser Chieti dropped to the fourteenth place with 17 games lost. Recanati will face league's second-placed Treviso Basket on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
