Very expected game when 10th ranked Valka/Valga (3-15) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Liepaja/Triobet (15-15) 108-85 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Liepaja/Triobet. Valka/Valga was better in fourth quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Liepaja/Triobet looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Artjoms Butjankovs (205-91) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 9 rebounds and guard Arturs Ausejs (192-90) who added 19 points and 5 assists during the contest. Five Liepaja/Triobet players scored in double figures. Liepaja/Triobet's coach Agris Galvanovskis felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American-Estonian forward Renato Lindments (202-84, college: Westfield St.) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Deandre Mathieu (175, college: Minnesota, agency: Two Points) scored 7 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Liepaja/Triobet have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 15-15 record. Valka/Valga lost eleventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 15 games lost. Liepaja/Triobet will face league's leader Ventspils on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week.
