NBB top team - Flamengo (20-7) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Minas (8-19) in Rio de Janeiro 108-74. Flamengo shot the lights out from three nailing 18 long-distance shots on high 51.4 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Minas' players. The former international Marcelo Machado (201-75, agency: Interperformances) nailed 19 points and 6 assists for the winning side and the former international Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) accounted for 20 points. Five Flamengo players scored in double figures. American forward Drew Maynard (200-89, college: Rochester, MI) came up with 13 points and the former international guard Danilo Fuzaro (193-94) added 13 points respectively for Minas in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Flamengo have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 20-7 record. Minas lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 19 games lost. Flamengo will again play against Minas (#12) in Belo Horizonte in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Minas will have a break next round.
