Regular Season Round 24: Dinamo Tbilisi - Sokhumi 95-52

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: Dinamo Tbilisi (#1) and Sokhumi (#5). Dinamo Tbilisi (23-1) smashed visiting Sokhumi (9-15) by 43 points 95-52. The game without a history. Dinamo Tbilisi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Sokhumi's 32. Dinamo Tbilisi forced 19 Sokhumi turnovers and outrebounded them 42-30 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Dinamo Tbilisi looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a good game for the former international Mikheil Berishvili (204-87) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Center Ilia Londaridze (205-89) contributed with 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Oleksandr Tishchenko (205-89) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Dwayne Lathan (190-89, college: Indiana St.) added 9 points and 5 assists in the effort for Sokhumi. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Dinamo Tbilisi have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 23-1 record. Sokhumi lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 15 games lost. Dinamo Tbilisi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Mgzavrebi.
