Leader Groningen delivered the twenty fourth win on Thursday night. This time they crushed 7th ranked Leeuwarden (7-19) 105-56. The game without a history. Groningen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Leeuwarden's 38. Groningen forced 19 Leeuwarden turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Leeuwarden's players. The best player for the winners was American forward Chase Fieler (203-92, college: FGCU) who scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international point guard Sean Cunningham (188-86, college: Cal-Riverside) chipped in 17 points and 7 steals. Four Groningen players scored in double figures. Groningen's coach Erik Braal felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Denton Koon (203-92, college: Hofstra, agency: Court Side) produced 15 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Jordan Gregory (188-92, college: Montana) added 15 points respectively for the guests. Groningen have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 24-2 record. Leeuwarden lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 19 games lost. Groningen are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Weert (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Leeuwarden will play against Den Bosch and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
