Rather expected game when 3rd placed Ballarat Miners (0-1) were rolled over on the road by leader Geelong Supercats (2-0) 100-76 on Friday. The game without a history. Geelong Supercats led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Ballarat Miners' 38. They outrebounded Ballarat Miners 50-37 including 36 on the defensive glass. Geelong Supercats looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Ballarat Miners' players. The best player for the winners was American guard Demarcus Gatlin (193, college: Sam Houston St.) who scored 26 points and 8 rebounds. The former international swingman Nathan Herbert (192-84) chipped in 22 points and 6 assists. Geelong Supercats' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American guard Davon Usher (198-92, college: Delaware) produced 30 points and forward Craig Moller (203-94) added 16 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Despite that victory Geelong Supercats went down to second position (League) due to points difference. Loser Ballarat Miners still closes the standings with one game lost. Geelong Supercats will face Dandenong Rangers (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Ballarat Miners will play against Kilsyth Cobras and look forward to get finally their first victory.
