Everything went according to plan in Parana where fourth ranked GECR Indalo (24-22) beat 10th ranked Echague (8-36) 91-82 on Friday. Echague was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. It was a great shooting night for GECR Indalo especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. Dominican center Eloy Vargas (211-88, college: Kentucky, agency: Duran International) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Carlos Schattmann (193-87) chipped in 17 points during the contest. Four GECR Indalo players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American center Derrick Caracter (206-88, college: UTEP) with 12 points and 8 rebounds and Dominican guard Gelvis Solano (185-94, college: Merrimack, agency: Basket Management Solutions) scored 18 points. GECR Indalo moved-up to third place. Newly promoted Echague keeps the tenth position with 36 games lost. GECR Indalo will face Weber Bahia (#4) in Bahia Blanca in the next round. Echague will play on the road against Penarol (#8) in Mar del Plata and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
