Regular Season Round 5: Lakeside L. - Kalamunda E.S. 92-87

Rather predictable result in North Lake where eleventh ranked Lightning (2-2) beat bottom-ranked Suns (0-5) 92-87 on Friday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Lightning dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Suns' 26. Lightning forced 19 Suns turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Suns were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward James Padgett (203-91, college: Maryland) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. His fellow American import guard Devon Atkinson (185, college: Morehead St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 assists. Four Lightning players scored in double figures. American guard Courtney Belger (187-89, college: Quincy) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists and guard Tim Squire (182-91) added 23 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Lightning moved-up to eighth place in League. Loser Suns still closes the standings with five games lost. Lightning will face Flames (#9) in Rockingham in the next round. Suns will play at home against Giants (#12) and look forward to get finally their first victory.
