Regular Season Round 30: Gipuzkoa GBC - Castello 83-81

Thirteenth-ranked Castello (12-18) made lots of trouble for first ranked Gipuzkoa (21-9) in San Sebastian on Friday. Gipuzkoa managed to secure only two-point victory 83-81. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 23-14 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Gipuzkoa made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was point guard Ricardo Uriz (188-80) who scored 11 points, 8 assists and 4 steals (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Bulgarian forward Aleks Simeonov (200-93) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Lithuanian center Deividas Busma (212-87, college: Idaho St., agency: Two Points) who recorded 18 points and point guard Joan Faner (176-90) added 8 points and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Gipuzkoa maintains first position with 21-9 record, which they share with Breogan. Castello at the other side keeps the thirteenth place with 18 games lost. Gipuzkoa is looking forward to face Magia Huesca (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Castello will play against Melilla Baloncesto and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
