There was no surprise when 5th ranked Rotterdam (12-14) was defeated on the road by third ranked Leiden (17-9) 86-72. The game was mostly controlled by Leiden. Rotterdam was better in fourth quarter 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Leiden forced 22 Rotterdam turnovers. American point guard Jonathan Lee (188-90, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 4 steals. The former international Jessey Voorn (197-90, agency: Court Side) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Leiden's coach Paul Vervaeck let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Michael Kok (190-91) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and center Lucas Steijn (211-86, college: Idaho St.) added 18 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Rotterdam. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Leiden maintains third position with 17-9 record having seven points less than leader Groningen. Rotterdam at the other side keeps the fifth place with 14 games lost. Leiden will play against Amsterdam (#6) at home in the next round. Rotterdam will play against the league's second-placed Zwolle and hopes to get back on the winning track.
