There was no surprise in Luxembourg where 5th ranked Contern (13-13) was defeated by third ranked Etzella (16-10) 85-77 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 8 points. The best player for the winners was Canadian power forward Billy McNutt (203-85) who scored 28 points and 8 rebounds. The former international swingman Nelson Delgado (188-80) chipped in 20 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Manny Atkins (198-91, college: Georgia St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and the former international swingman Rene Wolzfeld (194-91) added 18 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Etzella maintains third place in League with 16-10 record having eight points less than leader Amicale. Loser Contern keeps the fifth position with 13 games lost. Etzella will face Bascharage (#4) in Kaerjeng in the next round.
