Regular Season Round 5: Kalamunda E.S. - Perth R. 86-103

There was no surprise in Kalamunda where bottom-ranked Suns (0-5) were defeated by leader Redbacks (4-0) 103-86 on Saturday. Redbacks outrebounded Suns 49-34 including a 38-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Suns' players. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Shawn Redhage (203-81, college: Arizona St.) who scored 30 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international power forward Alexander Loughton (206-83, college: ODU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Five Redbacks players scored in double figures. American guard Courtney Belger (187-89, college: Quincy) produced 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Ryan Blanchett (202-96) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Redbacks keep a position of League leader. Loser Suns still closes the standings with five games lost. Redbacks will face Eagles (#4) in Morley in the next round. Suns will play at home against Giants (#12) and look forward to get finally their first victory.
