The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Aros Leon (21-4) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by eighth ranked Real Celta Vigo (11-14) 70-61. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Aros Leon. Real Celta Vigo dominated on the defensive end, holding Aros Leon to just 6 points in second quarter. Guard Maria-Ylenia Manzanares (175-83) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and American-Nigerian forward Cecilia Okoye (185-91, college: McNeese St.) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Real Celta Vigo players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Paloma Gonzalez (172-99) responded with 14 points and guard Andrea Alcantara (-99) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. Real Celta Vigo maintains eighth place in Group A with 11-14 record, which they share with Ensino and Segle XXI. Aros Leon at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. Real Celta Vigo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Aros Leon will play on the road against Cortegada in Vilagarcia Arousa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
