Regular Season Round 25: Segle XXI - Valladolid 71-57

Rather predictable result in Barcelona where tenth ranked Segle XXI (11-14) defeated 14th ranked Ponce Valladolid (4-21) 71-57 on Saturday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Segle XXI's pressure prevailed and they won that period 24-13 extending their advantage to 14 points. Guard Silvia Serrat (183-99) stepped up and scored 15 points for the winners and point guard Aina Ayuso (181-99) chipped in 15 points. At the losing side American guard Alyesha Lovett (183-93, college: Cincinnati) responded with 13 points and center Alejandra De-La-Fuente (193-88) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Segle XXI moved-up to eighth place in Group A, which they share with RC Celta and Ensino. Ponce Valladolid lost their eighth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with 21 games lost. Segle XXI will face Promete (#9) in the next round. Ponce Valladolid will play against Azkoitia (#11) and hope to win that game.
