There was a minor upset in Perth where 9th ranked Stirling S. (1-2) was defeated by eleventh ranked Cougars (2-2) 84-68 on Saturday. Cougars forced 21 Stirling S. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was swingman Gavin Field (202-89, college: W.Georgia) who scored 16 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. American forward Jalen Billups (198-92, college: N.Kentucky, agency: Haylett Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Five Cougars players scored in double figures. The former international forward Rhys Vague (204-96) produced 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and power forward Ashley Litterick (202) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Cougars moved-up to seventh place in League. Loser Stirling S. dropped to the eleventh position with two games lost. Cougars will face higher ranked Buccaneers (#3) in Wonthella in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
