Regular Season Round 3: Ringwood H. - Eltham W. 83-80

Date: April 1, 2017
There was a small surprise in Heathmont where Hawks (3-2) edged Wildcats (2-2) 83-80 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Wildcats won third quarter 18-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hawks made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. Hawks outrebounded Wildcats 45-28 including 33 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Victoria Jarosz who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. American swingman Emma Beddome (178, college: FGCU) helped adding 20 points and 12 rebounds. The best for the losing side was guard Rebecca Cole (178-92) with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international swingman Katrina Hibbert (180-77, college: LSU) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Hawks and five Wildcats players scored in double figures. Hawks will face Boomers (#9) in Bulleen in the next round. Wildcats will play against Venom and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
