Regular Season Round 51: Nishinomiya S. - Tokyo Z 69-70

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Nishinomiya S. (34-15) in Hyogo on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by fourth ranked Tokyo Z (21-29) 70-69. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Nishinomiya S.. They outrebounded Nishinomiya S. 45-33 including 32 on the defensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Nishinomiya S. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds. Point guard Shota Watanabe (180-93) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Point guard Noriaki Douhara (178-89) answered with 18 points and Australian center Jordan Vandenberg (216-90, college: N.Carolina St.) added 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) in the effort for Nishinomiya S.Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Nishinomiya S.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tokyo Z moved-up to third place. Nishinomiya S. at the other side dropped to the second position with 15 games lost. Tokyo Z will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Nishinomiya S. will play again at home against Tokyo Z and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
