Regular Season Round 25: Leganes - Valencia 73-76

Important game to mention about took place in Leganes. Twelfth ranked Valencia (7-18) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 4th placed Leganes (17-8) 76-73 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. The guests trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 18-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Montenegrin power forward Kristina Rakovic (186-94, agency: ProDep Management) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and Virginia Saez (-95) chipped in 13 points. Four Valencia players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Marta Perez (177-94) responded with 22 points and swingman Maria Espin (180-89) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Valencia moved-up to eleventh place in Group B, which they share with Picken Claret. Leganes lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourth position with eight games lost. Valencia will face higher ranked Antiguo Boscos (#8) in Zaragoza in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Leganes will play on the road against Olimpico 64 (#14) in Madrid and hope to win that game.
