Regular Season Round 3: Warrandyte V. - Waverley F. 46-75

Rather expected game when Venom (1-3) was crushed at home by Falcons (3-1) 75-46 on Saturday. Falcons dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Venom's 34. They outrebounded Venom 44-33 including 33 on the defensive glass. Falcons looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Venom's players. It was a great evening for forward Kelly Bowen (182-89, college: Gonzaga) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists. Forward Renae Mokrzycki (183-94, college: Idaho) helped adding 11 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was center Amanda Meinking (192-96) with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and Michelle Couling scored 8 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Falcons will face Sunbury in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Venom will play against Wildcats (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
