Regular Season Round 5: Goldfields G. - Mandurah M. 100-69

There was a small surprise in Kalgoorlie where thirteenth ranked Giants (1-3) outleveled 10th ranked Magic (1-2) 100-69 on Saturday. They outrebounded Magic 52-36 including a 36-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Giants looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Magic's players. Magic was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American power forward Jacob Holmen (202-91, college: N.Texas) who scored 37 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 7 assists. His fellow American import forward JB Pillard (201, college: Cent.Washington) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Four Giants players scored in double figures. American forward Taylor Mullenax (200-86, college: St.Edward's) produced 18 points and 7 rebounds and guard Andrew Bowman (185-85) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Giants left bottom position moving up to twelfth place in League. Loser Magic keeps the tenth position with two games lost. Giants will face Suns (#14) in Kalamunda in the next round.
