Regular Season Round 5: Geraldton B. - Willetton T. 83-95

There was an upset in Wonthella where leader Buccaneers (3-1) were defeated by seventh ranked Tigers (2-1) 95-83 on Saturday. Tigers outrebounded Buccaneers 42-29 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Ray Turner (206-90, college: Texas A&M) who had a double-double by scoring 32 points and 20 rebounds. Guard Kyle Armour (183-89, college: Augusta) chipped in 23 points and 6 rebounds. Four Tigers players scored in double figures. American forward Dwayne Benjamin (201-93, college: Oregon) produced 26 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import forward Maurice Barrow (196-92, college: Fairfield) added 20 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Tigers moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Buccaneers dropped to the third position with one game lost. Tigers will face higher ranked Hawks (#5) in Floreat in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Buccaneers will play at home against Cougars and hope to win that game.
