Second Stage Round 3: Al Riyadi - Moutahed 87-90

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Al Riyadi (16-5) in Beirut on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by Al Moutahed (12-9) 90-87. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-87. It was a great evening for American forward Cleveland Melvin (203-91, college: De Paul) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Ramel Curry (191-80, college: CSU Bakersfield) helped adding 17 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Mohamad Haidar (201-90, college: Michigan Tech) with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Serbian swingman Branko Cvetkovic (200-84, agency: AproK Sports Group) scored 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Moutahed are looking forward to face Champville (#4) in Dik El Mehdi in the next round. Al Riyadi will play on the road against Tadamon in Zouk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
