There was no surprise in Heathmont where 4th placed Eltham Wildcats (2-2) were defeated by leader Ringwood Hawks (5-0) 101-94 on Saturday. Ringwood Hawks made 25-of-29 free shots (86.2 percent) during the game. Eltham Wildcats were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was guard Matthew Snowball who had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. American forward Mike McCahey (196, college: St.Anselm) chipped in 23 points. Benjamin Waldren produced 34 points (!!!) and Jordan Canovan added 17 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Ringwood Hawks and four Eltham Wildcats players scored in double figures. Ringwood Hawks maintains second place in League with 5-0 record having just one victory less than leader Perth Redbacks. Loser Eltham Wildcats dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. Ringwood Hawks will face McKinnon C. (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Eltham Wildcats will play against Whittlesea City and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
