Regular Season Round 31: Quimper - Chartres 72-69

Tenth-ranked UB Chartres (16-15) made lots of trouble for second ranked Quimper UJAP (22-9) on Saturday. Quimper UJAP managed to secure only three-point victory 72-69. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of UB Chartres. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-20. But UB Chartres won second period 16-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Quimper UJAP looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Ukrainian forward Vyacheslav Bobrov (201-92) fired 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Dwight Burke (202-86, college: Marquette) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. Burke is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Point guard Olivier Romain (180-88) produced 19 points and 4 assists and American forward Jonathan Mitchell (201-87, college: Rutgers, agency: Inception Sports) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. UB Chartres' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Quimper UJAP maintains second place with 22-9 record having just two points less than leader Caen. UB Chartres at the other side dropped to the eighth position with 15 games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Quimper UJAP are looking forward to face SAP Vaucluse (#13) in Sorgues in the next round which should be an easy win for them. UB Chartres will play at home against Vendee Challans (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
