Regular Season Round 5: Sturt S. - Southern T. 84-64

Undefeated Noarlunga City Southern Tigers (0-1) recorded its first loss in Pasadena. Visitors were rolled over by leader Sturt Sabres (1-0) 84-64. Sturt Sabres outrebounded Noarlunga City Southern Tigers 46-31 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Hamish Burns (190, college: Newberry) orchestrated the victory by scoring 12 points and 9 rebounds. The former international power forward Claybrin McMath (203-90, college: Bryant) contributed with 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Five Sturt Sabres players scored in double figures. American forward Mike Nwelue (196, college: Drury) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds and guard Robert Linton (193) added 16 points in the effort for Noarlunga City Southern Tigers. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sturt Sabres left bottom position moving up to fourth place in League. Noarlunga City Southern Tigers at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. Sturt Sabres will play against league's leader Forestville Eagles in Goodwood in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Noarlunga City Southern Tigers will play at home against South Adelaide Panthers (#3) and hope to get finally their first victory.
