Regular Season Round 5: Canberra G. - Kilsyth C. 82-89

We should not miss the game where second ranked Kilsyth Cobras (1-1) against desperated Canberra Gunners (0-2) where Kilsyth Cobras won on the road by seven points 89-82. Kilsyth Cobras dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Canberra Gunners' 30 and made 22-of-25 charity shots (88.0 percent) during the game. Forward Chris Patton (208-91, college: Cal-Riverside) nailed 28 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Nelson Kirksey (190-89, college: UMKC) accounted for 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Kilsyth Cobras players scored in double figures. Guard Daniel Joyce (194-87) came up with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists and center Ben Allen (211-86, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Canberra Gunners in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Despite that victory Kilsyth Cobras went down to third position (League) due to points difference. Canberra Gunners at the other side still closes the standings with two games lost. Kilsyth Cobras' next round opponent will be Ballarat Miners (#5) in Wendouree. Canberra Gunners will play on the road against the league's leader Mount Gambier Pioneers in Mt Gambier and look forward to get finally their first victory.
