Regular Season Round 31: Vitre - ALS Basket 75-70

There was an upset when higher ranked ALS Basket (16-15) was defeated on the road by sixteenth ranked Vitre (13-18) 75-70 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But ALS Basket won third quarter 17-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Vitre won last quarter 18-14. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Montenegrin guard Nikola Korac (185-86) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 assists for the winners. Forward Guillaume Merie (198-83) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Vitre players scored in double figures. Vitre's coach Zoran Durdevic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Bosnian power forward Nemanja Kovanusic (204-93) produced 23 points and 9 rebounds and forward Jean-Francois Christnel (198-91) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Vitre moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted ALS Basket dropped to the eighth position with 15 games lost. Vitre will face higher ranked Souffelweyersheim (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
