Very important is a road loss of second ranked Empoli (20-4) against fifth ranked Team Crema (17-7) on Sunday night. Visiting Empoli was crushed by Team Crema in Crema 59-40. The game was mostly controlled by Team Crema. Empoli was better in third quarter 11-6. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Empoli to just 7 points in second quarter. Team Crema held Empoli to an opponent 24.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 32.9 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Empoli 55-35 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Empoli's coach Alessio Cioni rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Team Crema moved-up to fourth place in A2. Empoli at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Team Crema will play against Alghero (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Empoli will play against Virtus Cagliari (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
