Regular Season Round 25: Maccabi K/G - Ironi Nahariya 83-84

Twelfth-ranked Maccabi K/G (4-21) gave a tough game to ninth ranked Ironi Nahariya (12-13) in Kiryat Gat on Sunday. The visitors from Nahariya managed to secure only one-point victory 84-83. However their fans expected easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Maccabi K/G won third quarter 24-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ironi Nahariya looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Maccabi K/G's players. American power forward Yancy Gates (206-89, college: Cincinnati) fired 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Eran Asante-Asare (193-88) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Ironi Nahariya's coach Eric Elfasi used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American swingman Justin Carter (193-87, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) produced 24 points and the other American import forward Brandon Bowman (206-84, college: Georgetown) added 13 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ironi Nahariya moved-up to eighth place. Maccabi K/G lost fifth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 21 lost games. Ironi Nahariya will meet higher ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maccabi K/G will play against Maccabi Rishon (#9) in Rishon Le-Zion and hope to secure a win.
