Second Stage Round 3: Homenetmen - Byblos 80-59

The game between Top Four teams took place in Beirut. host Homenetmen (20-1) smashed Byblos (15-6) 80-59. The game was mostly controlled by Homenetmen. Byblos managed to win second period 14-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Homenetmen dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Byblos' 26. Homenetmen forced 20 Byblos turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Homenetmen made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was international center Ater Majok (208-87, college: Connecticut) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international swingman Fadi El-Khatib (198-79) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was French power forward Ali Traore (207-85, college: S.Idaho JC, agency: BeoBasket) who recorded 13 points and 9 rebounds and the former international point guard Rodrigue Akl (187-88) added 9 points and 7 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Homenetmen's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Beirut to the arena Sagesse.
