Regular Season Round 27: Antwerp - Aalstar 98-80

Date: April 2, 2017
There was no surprise when 5th ranked Okapi Aalstar (14-14) was defeated on the road by second ranked Antwerp Giants (18-9) 98-80. They made 21-of-22 charity shots (95.5 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American guard Jason Clark (188-90, college: Georgetown) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). His fellow American import forward Ryan Anderson (206-92, college: Arizona) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American Bill Amis (206-87, college: Hawaii, agency: Pensack Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and forward Thomas De-Thaey (203-91, college: N.Carolina St., agency: Octagon Europe) added 13 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Okapi Aalstar. Five Antwerp Giants and four Okapi Aalstar players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Antwerp Giants maintains second place with 18-9 record having four points less than leader Oostende. Okapi Aalstar at the other side keeps the fifth position with 14 games lost. Antwerp Giants will play against Belfius Mons-Hainaut (#8) in Jemappes in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Okapi Aalstar will play at home against Kangoeroes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
