Regular Season Round 51: San-en - Niigata Albirex 85-75

An interesting game for Sanen Neophoenix (27-22) which hosted in Hamamatsu 4th placed Niigata Albirex (21-28). Second ranked Sanen Neophoenix managed to get a 10-point victory 85-75. Sanen Neophoenix dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Niigata Albirex's 40. It was a good game for American swingman Josh Childress (203-83, college: Stanford) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Robert Dozier (206-85, college: Memphis) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Five Sanen Neophoenix players scored in double figures. Sanen Neophoenix's coach Hiroki Fujita used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) answered with 25 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) added 20 points and 4 steals in the effort for Niigata Albirex. Sanen Neophoenix maintains second place with 27-22 record having fourteen points less than leader Tochigi Brex. Loser Niigata Albirex keeps the fourth position with 28 games lost. Sanen Neophoenix will face league's leader Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Niigata Albirex will play on the road against Toyama Grouses and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
