Regular Season Round 27: Matera - Taranto 93-78

Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked Matera (15-10) beat at home 15th ranked Taranto (5-20) 93-78 on Sunday. They outrebounded Taranto 50-28 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Matera looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for swingman Stefano Laudoni (195-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 9 rebounds. Point guard Alessandro Grande (185-94, agency: Two Points) helped adding 13 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. Four Matera players scored in double figures. Matera's coach Roberto Miriello used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was point guard Alessandro Procacci (184-94) with 27 points and 4 assists and guard Giovanni Laquintana (187-91) scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. Matera maintains sixth place in B with 15-10 record. Loser Taranto keeps the fifteenth position with 20 games lost. Matera will face Giulianova (#12) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Taranto will play against Isernia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
