The game had a very big importance for second-ranked CB Canarias as it allowed them to take a leadership position. CB Canarias defeated 15th ranked Zaragoza in Tenerife 65-54. Zaragoza was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. It was a great evening for American forward Tim Abromaitis (203-89, college: Notre Dame) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points. Canadian-Dutch forward Aaron Doornekamp (201-85, agency: Interperformances) helped adding 13 points and 6 rebounds. CB Canarias' coach Jesus Vidorreta used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: BeoBasket) with 15 points and Dutch center Henk Norel (213-87) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Zaragoza lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth place with 18 games lost. They share the position with Joventut. Zaragoza will play next round against FC Barcelona trying to get back on the winning streak. CB Canarias will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Andorra on the road.
