There was an upset when higher ranked Fiorentina (14-12) was defeated on the road by fourteenth ranked Oleggio (10-17) 78-71 on Sunday. Oleggio forced 19 Fiorentina turnovers. Strangely Fiorentina outrebounded Oleggio 52-33 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Dominican guard Shaquille Hidalgo (188-94) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Guard Filippo Testa (193-97, agency: SPORTlab Agency) helped adding 14 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was swingman Jacopo Lucarelli (190-96, agency: Players Group) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Davide Poltroneri (195-85) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Oleggio maintains fourteenth place in B with 10-17 record. Loser Fiorentina dropped to the seventh position with 12 games lost. Oleggio will face higher ranked USE Basket (#6) in Empoli in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
