Everything went according to plan in Parana where second ranked Estudiantes C. (31-15) outscored 10th ranked Echague (8-36) 106-81 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Estudiantes C.. Echague was better in fourth quarter 29-28. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. American-Jordanian Dar Tucker (193-88, college: De Paul) scored 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Cuban center Javier Justiz (205-92, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Four Estudiantes C. players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Dominican guard Gelvis Solano (185-94, college: Merrimack, agency: Basket Management Solutions) with 28 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and center Franco Barroso (207-94) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Estudiantes C. maintains second position with 31-15 record having just three point less than leader San Lorenzo. Newly promoted Echague keeps the tenth place with 36 games lost. Estudiantes C. will face GECR Indalo (#3) in Comodoro R. in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Echague will play on the road against Penarol (#8) in Mar del Plata and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
