Regular Season Round 25: Umana VE - Scandone AV 78-75

Important game to mention about took place in Venezia. Second ranked Umana Venezia (17-8) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 3rd placed Scandone AV (15-10) 78-75 in the game for the second place. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Scandone AV won third quarter 21-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Umana Venezia won last quarter 19-18. Umana Venezia outrebounded Scandone AV 36-19 including 24 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Greek-American swingman Michael Bramos (196-87, college: Miami, OH) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Canadian-Nigerian forward Melvin Ejim (200-91, college: Iowa St.) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Umana Venezia players scored in double figures. Umana Venezia's coach Walter De Raffaele allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American-Polish guard David Logan (185-82, college: Indianapolis) answered with 19 points and American-Liberian point guard Joe Ragland (182-89, college: Wichita St.) added 17 points in the effort for Scandone AV. Umana Venezia have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 17-8 record having just three points less than leader EA7 Armani. Scandone AV at the other side keeps the third position with ten games lost. They share it with Dolomiti En. TR. Umana Venezia will play against league's leader Armani Milano on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Scandone AV will play against AV Cantu and hopes to get back on the winning track.
