Regular Season Round 25: Hapoel J-M - Galil Gilboa 80-86

An interesting game took place in Jerusalem where higher ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (13-12) was upset on its own court by tenth ranked Galil Gilboa (11-14) 86-80. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Hapoel Jerusalem won third quarter 22-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Galil Gilboa made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Murphy Holloway (201-90, college: Mississippi) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Eric Griffin (203-90, college: Campbell) contributed with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Five Galil Gilboa players scored in double figures. Galil Gilboa's coach Ariel Beit-Halamy allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Power forward Amare Stoudemire (208-82) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Curtis Jerrells (185-87, college: Baylor) added 19 points and 6 assists in the effort for Hapoel Jerusalem. Galil Gilboa moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Maccabi Rishon. Hapoel Jerusalem at the other side keeps the fifth position with 12 games lost. Galil Gilboa's next round opponent will be higher ranked Maccabi Haifa (#7) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hapoel Jerusalem will play against Maccabi Ashdod and hope to win that game.
