Very expected game in Rio de Janeiro where 10th ranked Vasco Da G. (13-15) was defeated by sixth ranked Pinheiros (17-11) 83-74. Pinheiros players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. American guard Cordero Bennett (188-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 8 assists. Center Ralfi Ansaloni (211-87) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Pinheiros' coach Cesar Guidetti allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Gaucho Zilmer (197-86) answered with 28 points and American guard David Jackson (195-82, college: Penn St.) added 15 points in the effort for Vasco Da G.Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
