Second Stage Round 4: Champville - Moutahed 90-76

Date: April 4, 2017
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Al Moutahed (12-10) against fourth ranked Champville (9-13) on Tuesday night. Visiting Al Moutahed was defeated by Champville in Dik El Mehdi 90-76. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Bassel Bawji (203-89, college: Tulsa) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 19 rebounds and American swingman Brandon Thomas (198-84, college: Massachusetts, agency: Three Eye Sports) who added 23 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Champville's coach Ghassan Sarkis used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Cleveland Melvin (203-91, college: De Paul) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Ramel Curry (191-80, college: CSU Bakersfield) scored 15 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Champville maintains fourth position in LBL with 9-13 record. Loser Al Moutahed keeps the second place with ten games lost. Champville will meet league's leader Al Riyadi in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Al Moutahed will play against Tadamon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
