Second Stage Round 4: Sagesse - Homenetmen 67-68

Fourth-ranked Sagesse (6-16) made lots of trouble for first ranked Homenetmen (21-1) in Beirut. The visitors managed to secure only one-point victory 68-67. However their fans expected easier game. Homenetmen made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Homenetmen outrebounded Sagesse 48-33 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international swingman Fadi El-Khatib (198-79) who helped to win the game recording 31 points (made all of his thirteen free throws !!!). International center Ater Majok (208-87, college: Connecticut) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. Nigerian-American guard Michael Efevberha (193-84, college: CS Northridge) replied with 29 points and the former international forward Patrick Bou-Abboud (199-87) added 11 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks in the effort for Sagesse. Homenetmen maintains first position in LBL with 21-1 record. Sagesse at the other side keeps the fourth place with 16 games lost. Homenetmen will play against Louaize (#3) in Zouk in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Sagesse will play on the road against the league's second-placed Byblos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
