CIBACOPA top team - Tijuana Zonkeys (7-2) added another victory to their record on Wednesday. This time they beat tenth ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (1-7) 84-78. Tijuana Zonkeys forced 19 Pioneros Los Mochis turnovers. The best player for the winners was American center Leon Gibson (206-91, college: Houston) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 17 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Four Tijuana Zonkeys players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Cameron Forte (201-93, college: Portland St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 43 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds (on 16-of-19 shooting from the field) and Manuel Hernandez added 19 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Tijuana Zonkeys have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-2 record. Pioneros Los Mochis lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys will meet at home Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (#5) in the next round. Pioneros Los Mochis will play against the league's second-placed Rayos de Hermosillo (#2) and hope to win that game.
