Second Stage Round 5: Al Riyadi - Champville 93-76

An interesting game for Al Riyadi (17-6) which hosted in Beirut 4th placed Champville (9-14). First ranked Al Riyadi had an easy win 93-76. The game was mostly controlled by Al Riyadi. Champville was better in second period 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Champville to just 6 points in first quarter. Al Riyadi shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. The best player for the winners was Dominican-American point guard Edgar Sosa (190-88, college: Louisville) who scored 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (210-87, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Three Eye Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds. Five Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. American swingman Brandon Thomas (198-84, college: Massachusetts, agency: Three Eye Sports) produced 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import point guard Patrick Rembert (185-89, college: Cal-Irvine) added 22 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Defending champion maintains first place in LBL with 17-6 record. Champville at the other side keeps the fourth position with 14 games lost. Al Riyadi's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Al Moutahed in Tripoli and it will be for sure the game of the week. Champville will play on the road against Tadamon in Zouk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
